Children’s Best Table has been very successful in seven municipalities in Sweden. We would like to hear from those with ideas for continuing the project. An extension of the project to Denmark offers, in particular, many new opportunities for collaboration and innovation.

Future partners

Children’s Best Table connects partners in the food chain to create interest in the origins of raw food materials and cooking in tomorrow’s consumer.

Involved food producers, restaurants, and cafes may be given priority in sponsoring commercial activities offered to families and schools. Partners will be asked to take an active role in sharing their specific knowledge. Danish actors could establish a week-long health initiative similar to the Skåne Löfter, in which Region Skåne will offer free activities at various locations in southern Sweden (see www.barntillatet.se).

Schools and parent associations may collaborate with universities, municipalities and businesses in the food chain to organise food related activities during and after school so that children can learn more about cooking and different culinary cultures in a playful and easy manner.

Organizations in the green industry may offer natural locations for child-friendly food-related activities in the wild in collaboration with schools, parents associations and local organizations.

Sports clubs and other organizations may collaborate, devising activities such as: a day allowing children to take part in food/sports-related activities, making a team taste panel for new sports-oriented food or beverage products, and hosting school trips where food and movement are the focus.
