First joint innovation masterclass

Questions and lively discussion filled the air towards the end of a masterclass on food innovation in Brussels last week. On Tuesday 23rd during the annual EU-event SciTech in Brussels, the first joint masterclass was given by Executive Project Coordinator Niels Gerner from Øresund Food and Professor Frans Kampers from Wageningen University (NL). About 80 delegates had picked the seminar under the title “How to create 100.000s of jobs with food innovation” on how to create innovation in a needy industry.

“We need to create a hype about food innovation – but do it systematically and together”, seemed to be the provocative yet sympathetic message from the speakers, and it was received with real interest from the audience.
The event, together with common information in a booth in the SciTech exhibition hall, proved the good collaboration between the international partners of FoodBEST.

The project works on establishing a knowledge and innovation community with the goal of boosting European food innovation through a change in mind set. French INRA and Dutch Food Valley are also a part of the international consortium.
