Field trip to Toronto
Together with a diverse group with represents from the City of Copenhagen, KPH- Projects, Malmö University, Chalmers, Glokala Folkhögskolan, Kuben Management, Give Rum and PWC, Øresund Entrepreneurship visited creative milieus for social innovation in Toronto, on a field trip arranged by Fredrik Björk at Malmö University. Between November 6 to November 10, we visited organisations such as Social Innovation Generation@mars, Center for Social innovation and Artscape, as well as York University and University of Toronto.
The concept of social innovation is much more established and institutionalized over the pond, which were especially noticeable in the relationship between the different sectors. Private philanthropists were very active and financed a lot of interesting initiatives, but regional municipalities were also very proactive and collaborated a lot with social entrepreneurs and actors within the social economy.
As always with these trips, it was the establishment of network ties between the people in the delegation that is of most long lasting value but we did also bring back a lot of inspiration for activities that the group will work further with, and implement in the Øresund region.
An informal reunion will be held in connection to the seminar “Att odla begreppen”, December 8 at Malmö University.
