Virtual Food Factory

The Virtual Food Factory aims to integrate the ICT sector with the food sector, making the Øresund Region leading in using ICT in the food value chain. The project is funded by Intereg IIIA -Øresund.

The project is an example of the cross-sectorial collaboration Øresund IT seeks to initiate. Together with Øresund Food Network we have received funding for the project to increase interaction between the ICT and food clusters in the Øresund region.

Exploring the borderline between Food and ICT
The borderline between Food and IT has considerable growth potentials with respect to optimisation and automation of food manufacturing, logistics and e-business, quality assurance as well as the use of wireless techniques. The project is focused around the following areas:

• Food Chain Management
• Enabling technologies

The Virtual Food Factory home page
The project has a dedicated web site; the Virtual Food Factory home page where a Blog and Forum have opened up to serve as tools for sharing thoughts and observations on the boarderline area between Food and ICT.

Øresund - a Leading Region
Our vision is to make the Øresund Region visible as one of the leading in the cross surface between ICT and issues related to the food value-chain such as; food production, processing, distribution and consumption.
