Living Labs Øresund

Living Lab Øresund aims to create an environment that operates as a central hub for user-driven projects within mobile and wireless technology in the Øresund Region.

Living Labs is a open expertise forum where users, private companies, governmental institutions and public sector organizations compose the physical and virtual innovation infrastructure to create targeted solutions and services for relevant user communities.

Living Labs Øresund is a regional project integrated in a pan-European perspective. Living Labs have been successfully established in corresponding regions in Europe, and thus Living Labs Øresund provides a network on an international level and is a gateway to a significant critical mass and new markets.

Hosted by Øresund IT and a Consortium
The Living Labs initiative is hosted by Living Labs Europe and Øresund IT. The consortium acts as a facilitating entity and as a focal meeting point for actors who are interested in participating on a consortium level or on the individual project level. It is an open forum and we invite interested partners to cooperate in either the whole project or parts of it.

The project has been funded by Vinnova and a host of private and public partners on the Swedish side. The project was started with the Kick-off in September 2007 and is continuing for the next two years.

Users as a Central Part
User involvement is central to the Living Labs project. Substantial resources are spent on technological solutions which create low market responses, mainly because users do not adopt the technology. The Living Labs belief is that understanding users beyond traditional market surveys is the key to developing sustainable applications that make sense to the users’ context.

As a part of this we have created a Living Labs Øresund website.

mStudent - a Specific Project
The mStudent project is a specific example of an individual project within the student segment in Living Labs Øresund. By understanding the behaviour and lifestyle of students, it is possible to incorporate them in a development process that results in context specific solutions, i.e. mobile payment, e-learning, administrative services and e-library. To realise such applications, students, universities, entrepreneurs, software companies and other stakeholders from the private and the public sector are involved in the project.

Pipeline projects focusing on other user groups include for instance mTourist, mRescue, mHealth and mTraveller.
