Great turnout at our Logistics and Infrastructure workshop
Femern Belt Logistics’ workshop on Logistics and Infrastructure was one of the biggest workshops at the FBBC Conference the 14th of September 2010
The purpose of the workshop was to lay the foundations for cross-border networking, establishment of new contact and encourage discussions regarding the needs for infrastructure improvement. The Femern fixed link creates great opportunities for the logistics sector in the region, and the workshop was used to discuss how investments can be increased to the Øresund-Lübeck-Hamburg region as well as cooperation and infrastructure improvements. What are the opportunities and barriers?
The workshop was directed by Øresund Logistics’ managing director Patrik Rýden.
List of speakers:

- Thomas Andersson, Managing Director, TX Logistics Sweden, www.txlogistik.eu
o Thomas’ presentation concerned the fact that in the future the fixed Femern link will result in a bigger flexibility in where to place distribution centers and production compared to today.
- Ove Søltoft, Director, JN Spedition A/S, www.jn-spedition.dk
o Ove covered the subject of the need for more combi-terminals in the future. His conclusion was that Køge would be an obvious choice for a combi-terminal.

o Ute explained to the audience that DB not only provides transportation from hub to hub but that they have a strategy to supply complete logistics package solutions.
- Casper K. Østergaard, Business Development Manager, Copenhagen Capacity, www.copcap.com
o Casper gave his view of a future with the fixed Femern link. He meant that it would be beneficial to centralize distribution centers e.g. to the Øresund region. He also pointed out that the fixed link is very important to companies, especially Nordic companies, as to where they choose to locate themselves.
- Bart Steijaert, General Manager, CMP, www.cmport.com
o Bart’s presentation included a view of CMP’s big perspective of the region, including the Baltic Sea Region. The fixed Femern link would open up the possibility of the creation of new logistics concepts, which would be good for both the Øresund region and CMP.
