About Us
Øresund Materials Innovation Community works to make Northern Europe the central hub for research and innovation in hard, soft and biological materials with a focus on Grand Challenges.
The Grand Challenges — from clean tech, green energy and supercomputing to structural biology and pharmaceuticals — are fields of intense scientific interest and immense economic potential. For most of the Grand Challenges, the solution lies in advanced research at the atomic level.
The solutions, as well as the challenges, belong to all of humanity, and all around the world, universities and companies are engaged in pushing the boundaries of our knowledge further. The central nodes in the global network are the research facilities.
In the coming years, we will see the building of three extraordinary facilities in Northern Europe. The XFEL free electron laser in Hamburg, the MAX IV synchrotron in Lund and the ESS neutron spallation source in Lund and Copenhagen will be the best instruments available, and Northern Europe will be the central hub for scientific research in hard, soft and biological materials.
Øresund Materials Innovation Community is a triple helix partnership established to ensure the best possible support for research and innovation in and around the scientific facilities.
The project consists of seven work packages:
1) Community building and communication
4) Knowledge sharing in Science Parks
6) Bibliographical Investigation
The work packages are designed to optimize collaboration, coordinate activities and to anchor the common vision in a dynamic network, grounded in the Øresund region but open to Northern Europe, Europe and the World.
