Simple wireless solutions for the intelligent home
Zensys remote controlThe dream of controlling domestic electrical appliances without leaving the sofa lounge has become closer to come true thanks to a RF-based technology developed by the company Zensys. With the technology named Z-wave, it is possible to control all domestic appliances remotely. Its use should be simpler and cheaper than, for example, the use of cables.
Z-wave enables embedded intelligence and wireless communication for a variety of residential and commercial applications such as lighting and appliance control, thermostat and ventilation control, and security. To ensure the lowest possible cost, Z-Wave has been tailored to the applications it is aimed at, i.e., appliance and home systems control. Therefore, its bandwidth is not suited for bandwidth intensive applications such as voice or video transfer and it is limited to 9.6 kbps.
The first product to use Z-wave technology consists of a remote control and several “intelligent” plugs to be connected to lights and domestic appliances. When an equipment or lamp is connected to the intelligent plugs, the network is ready to operate. Based in Copenhagen, Zensys has offices in San Francisco and New Yor
