Urban Transition

The point of origin for this project is specific needs and experiences in connection to a sustainable city development. The focus will be to secure a CO2 – neutral city development which partly does not call for increased expenses and partly renders the same comfort possible as the standard city development does today.

The purpose of the Urban Transition project is to develop and test models and tools within sustainable city development where the focus will be CO2 – neutral city development, and where specific constructions in the Øresund Region will be involved.

The project will be developed and solved in collaboration with practicians, local authorities and scientists. Experiences from other city development projects (e.g. Copenhagen) demonstrate that collaboration and knowledge sharing among stakeholders is essential to reach ambitious project goals as for instance CO2 – neutrality. The project also aims at bringing resourcefully people together such as investors, financial experts and architects which is why collaboration models is such a big factor in the Urban Future project.

The project development and application process will be lead by Øresund Environment I cooperation with IIIEE at Lund University, Aalborg University, KARCH, Malmø City and the Municipality of Copenhagen. The City of Lund, Helsingborg, Roskilde, Ballerup and Region Zealand and Copenhagen Business School are potential partners.

The Interreg application will be ready by the 1st of October 2010.
