Prerequisites for the course

The prerequisite for following the course in Configuration Management is that you have passed the course:
EDAF45: "Software development in teams - project"
or
ETSN05: "Software development for large systems".

If you come from the C-, E-, F-, I- or Pi-programme you should have passed the course:
EDAA01: "Programming - second course"
or
EDAF05: "Algorithms, Data Structures and Complexity"
plus have some experience from working in a group.

If you are an exchange student (or an ad-hoc or special student) you can still follow the course. We are looking mainly for project (working in a group) experience and "you should have seen that software production is much more than just programming", so you can understand and appreciate the ties SCM has to other disciplines. You should contact the lecturer to know if you qualify.

Another great course that goes well with this Configuration Management course is the course Yrkesträning.

I have supervised both students taking it before the Configuration Management course and after the Configuration Management course. As I see it, there is no "best order" in which to take the courses. Some students taking the training first have stated that it really motivated them for following the Configuration Management course to learn how "chaos could be brought a little under order" - students taking the training after have stated that "it felt good to be able to suggest an improvement or two to the development process in the company". Either way, much to my regret all the students I have supervised have said that the training course was the best (or one of the best) course ever - I would have liked that to be the Configuration Management course ;-)

If you want to do your training as a Configuration Management apprentice in a company, there are a couple of possibilities for doing that once you have passed the Configuration Management course.
