Øresunddirekt receives millions from the Nordic Council of Ministers
Posted: March 09, 2011
The Nordic Council of Ministers wishes to support the information service Øresunddirect in Malmö and Copenhagen. During the next three years they will each get 625.000 DKK annually.

For Øresunddirect in Copenhagen the money will be spent to secure the daily operation, while the sister operation in Malmö still is considering how to use the money, writes the news service Rapidus.
The contribution is a way of showing that the Nordic Council of Ministers believes that Øresunddirect is doing an important job.
- There has been much complaint about the short funding for these services so this contribution indicate that the Nordic Council of Ministers want them to continue their work, says Johan Lindblad, Senior Advisor at the Nordic Council of Ministers, to Rapidus.
The Council would like to see greater collaboration between Øresunddirect in Malmö and Copenhagen but also with other Nordic information services such as the Norwegian-Swedish border service. Bo Strömgren, who is responsible for the Øresund Direct in Malmö believes this is positive.
- We have had a briefing with other regional border service organizations and it is great if we can make use of each other expertise and share what we are good at, he says.
Øresunddirect in Malmö has 5.5 million SEK in operating costs but also has organizational human resources such as Tax, Employment Service and Insurance. The organization in Copenhagen has an annual budget of less than four million DKK in 2011 including the contribution from the Nordic Council of Ministers.
Johan Lindblad from the Nordic Council of Ministers expects that the contract will be sign within a month. The contract runs for the next three year with the proviso that the Nordic Council must approve it again every year.
