ICT making life easier - across generations
Posted: March 28, 2011
On March 28-29, 2011 Øresund IT speaks at the European conference about technology for disabled and older people, hosted by London School of Economics.
ICT, applied in novel and sensitve ways, may deliver capability for both addressing the welfare needs and enabling the personal markets of the growing ageing population. A pool of experience in early provision of services and technologies for both assisted and independent living and active ageing is being steadily gathered across Europe.

Managing Director of Øresund IT, Micael Gustafsson is amongst the speakers on how technology and social media can be used for independent living purposes, experiences mainly from the European project Express-2-Connect.
The presentation and education of participants is yet another recognition of the specific work and projects Øresund IT is part of, only few weeks after Micael Gustafsson receiving the Achieve More Award in Bruxelles earlier in March 2011. This time, in London, he is amongst political speakers, e.g. from the Government of Scotland and EU institutions, academic contributors from Cambridge and Westminster University, and also industry representatives from Siemens and Cisco Systems.
Wider deployment on this topic rests upon identification of the business opportunities. A structured and widely drawn systems approach is necessary to unleash the user pull necessary to enable this which is what this conference is initially an initiative for. The prize being a triple win for people, governments, and the industry.
Partners of the conference are:
The Department of Business, Initiative and Skills AGE Platform Europe
The College of Occupational Therapists
The Technology Strategy Board
The Knowledge Transfer Network
The Knowledge Tree Group, MonAmi Project
Industry and the Sasakawa Foundation
