Collaborative ICT success in Øresund
Posted: February 14, 2011
On February 2-4 eight Portuguese ICT companies visited the Øresund Region with the purpose of finding new business partners, collaborations and prepare for possibly establishment in our region. Today, a week after, we conclude that the visit was indeed successful.

More than 50 business meetings between companies from Øresund and Portugal were held during two days and the results are amazing. Four Swedish companies are currently discussing contracts with Portuguese partners; some intending to launch Portuguese products to their portfolio on current markets, and others plan follow-up meetings in Portugal.
The Portuguese company IPBRICK believes that the mission was a great success.
- We had the opportunity to present our technology to potential Swedish and Danish partners and the feedback was very good and has in fact already resulted in joint collaboration, says Raul Oliveira, CEO at IPBRICK.
Also the Swedish companies enjoy the benefits of this business trip.
- There are benefits for both us and IPBRICK: Our product strengthens IPBRICK's product portfolio, and integrating vScope by InfraSight Labs in their platform opens up new opportunities for our business, enabling us to reach new customers not only in Portugal but all of southern Europe and eventually Brazil, the fastest growing market in the world! Says Magnus Andersson, CEO at InfraSight Labs.
Øresund IT and the Portuguese counterpart within cluster development both consider this cross-national collaboration as a very significant.
- It is important for our region to have contacts in other parts of Europe, and Portugal is great, partly because our clusters have similarities in managing and operations, and partly because our contacts there provide an entrance to the Brazilian market, says Micael Gustafsson, CEO of Øresund IT.
Portic, a Portuguese think tank sees the mission as an important step in the internationalization process their ICT companies.
- We at Portic have targeted the Öresund region as high potential region and of great interest for Portuguese ICT collaboration, since it is a leading ICT region in Europe. We are very happy about this fruitful and trustful relation with the region where Øresund IT has been a key player. says Pedro Castro Henriques, President of Portic.
The business trip was followed closely by the Portuguese ambassador in Copenhagen and by the commercial attaché at the Embassy in Stockholm. Both government officers were very impressed by the arrangement as well as the size of the ICT cluster in the Øresund Region, which is one of the largest in Europe.
Øresund IT continuously works to help the region's ICT stakeholders with international contacts and the commercialization of research. During the year Øresund IT has created business contacts to more than 200 companies in the Øresund Region, e.g. in Austria, Spain, Germany and France.
