The Capital Region of Denmark supports new spin-offs

25 potential spin-off ideas from 15 companies have been shaved down to 12 now ready for launch.

Since October 2009 The Capital Region of Denmark has been managing the selection process of 25 business ideas from 15 companies, which come from a wide range of industries.

The regional authority does not support spin-offs with offices but provide funding up to DKK 500.000. The start-up supporting organization Business Link Greater Copenhagen, under The Capital Region of Denmark, is providing legal assistance and other consultancy matters.

Project leader John Thesmer explains that companies must contribute financially themselves as they also have to seek office opportunities at Symbion Science park and DTU etc.

In addition John Thesmer pinpoints that many of these ideas would not have been executed without this initiative because many companies that are currently under pressure because of the financial crisis restrain themselves from moving away from their core competences.
