Swedish Polar Rose bought by Apple

The Swedish company Polar Rose has in recent years created a lot of attention because of its development of facial recognition software. Now it seems that the company may soon reap the fruits of many years hard work.

Today the company offers a number of products based on its technology, including FaceCloud, which allows facial recognition for Web services, and FaceLib, which brings the functionality to mobile phones.

Polar Rose has also worked to index the more than 20 billion photos stored on Facebook, something that has created a lot of attention from potential buyers according to Polar Rose.
The company was at the World Economic Forum in Davos a few years ago touted to be among the world leading technology pioneers with the potential to change the world.

Polar Rose is based in Malmø and has 15 employees. Its technology came from research conducted in two universities located in southern Sweden.
