Danish companies should continue to spend money on IT to cope with the financial crisis says the Danish Chamber of Commerce.
The Danish Chamber of Commerce, Dansk Erhverv, believes that IT delivers a way out of the financial crisis. Therefore the organization strongly recommends that Danish companies pursue the IT goals they have already had for years instead for cutting back in the crisis.
"Companies maintain their focus on IT investments. That is positive because IT is the 'driver' that we need in times of crisis" says Christian Ohm, Chief Consultant in the Danish Chamber of Commerce in a press release.
The organization is assessing the latest figures from Statistics Denmark, which shows that Danish companies with more than 10 employees spent DKK 46.7 billion in 2008.
These numbers correspond that DKK 40.000 is spent on IT per employee and that is a 10 percent increase compared to 2007, explains Christian Ohm.
Over the past couple of years IT services have become the leading IT expense for Danish companies. Meanwhile, the hardware expenses are decreasing.
This development means that half of todays IT expenses are reserved for IT services.
"The figures confirm the radical development within the last couple of years. IT services improves the productivity that we are craving for. That is why I believe we will witness an enhanced productivity as a result of the increased IT investments," says Christian Ohm.
