Open Source Days 2010
The largest open source conference of Scandinavia is taking place in Copenhagen next month. With a complete technical focus, hundreds of open source specialists meet and discuss, share and learn from open source experts. A two-days packed schedule gives you presentations and tutorials on everything from the concept of open source and policies to Google's infrastructure and Ubuntu's work with Linux to semantics in software systems.
This year, Open Source Days take place at the IT University of Copenhagen on March 5 and 6, 2010. It is the 12th annual conference and the biggest on open source in all of the Nordic countries, thus attracts international open source enthusiasts from all over the world.
Open source in your everyday
Regardless if you are a Windows- or Mac user you use open source software all the time. As soon as you open your internet browser and search with Google; that is open source software. When you check the weather, the calculations are most often made at a super-computer using open source software. Basically the main part of the infrastructure of the internet is build on open source software. In your everyday life, you also know open source software as the operating system Linux, the browser Firefox or as the office programs OpenOffice.
Open Source Days presents more than 70 key note presentations on topics from hardcore system administration to a focus on what open source solutions are chosen by IT managers in the public sector.
This is about visions, methods and best-practice divided into 7 trails during these two days, giving you presentations and tutorials by professional IT experts, developers and community leaders.
The media and open source
Several media agencies and other institutions that have large web portals have chosen an open source solution. Friday, March 5 the Open Source Days therefore dedicate an entire trail for web-applications and an introduction to some of the great solutions based on Drupal, eZ Publisher and Typo3.
Nokia Open 2010
Friday night we turn Open Source Days into Nokia Open 2010 where Nokia hosts presentations, competitions and showcases their newest cell phones focusing on N900 - the open platform of the future where you can tailor the programs you need on your cell phone.
Open Standards in the public sector
Friday's program also dedicates a trail to focus on open source in the public sector; OpenOffice and open document standards. Amongst others, the Digital Chief of the Ministry of Finance will give a presentation on open standards, consolidation, and economy.
Open Source Days are also an opportunity for companies focusing on open source solutions to showcase themselves and their products. Hosting companies, development companies, CMS distributors, and education institutions will be represented.
And Open Source Days is so much more. The conference is organized by a large group of volunteers from the Danish open source community who will be present at the conference along with some of the user groups working with open source in the entire Øresund Region.
We are looking forward to seeing you on March 5 and 6, 2010!
