Øresund IT calls on Portugal to collaborate
Posted: May 03, 2010 by Daniel Vámosi Martinussen
Last week Øresund IT demonstrated its determination in regard to future ambitions on international collaborations when two managers drove to Portugal and held numerous meetings with the industry.
Through almost a decade Øresund IT has manifested increasing ambitions by continuously challenging the borders of our work and engagement both industrially and geographically. By now the vast experience of the organization counts as a unique quality and a key factor to the constantly intensifying growth produced.
When Øresund IT's Micael Gustafsson, CEO, and Philip Stankovski, Network Manager along with Copenhagen Capacity's Espen Gregersen chose to take the long haul by car due to influence of a certain Islandic ash cloud there were no regrets. Here are their personal experiences after the trip:
"Even though we spent almost 60 hours in a car I am convinced that the meetings were worth the effort. Several companies are interested in establishing in our region, a large venture capital company intends to guide investments here and we established several good contacts on a high political level. The outcome could not have been better," says Micael Gustafsson, CEO, Øresund IT.
"The meetings were very beneficial and will surely lead to new establishments although some might even be too eager to expand internationally: It will always be a great advantage to be well established on a home market before looking to go abroad," explains Espen Gregersen, Head of ICT, Copenhagen Capacity.
"It is very interesting to meet so many different companies with such a great potential who above all show extraordinary interest in our region. Speaking as an ICT ambassador of our region I think the sales work is going to be fairly easy," estimates Philip Stankovski, Network Manager, Øresund IT.
Spokesman Pedro Castro Henriques of the Portuguese ICT cluster, Portic, also felt very optimistic after the international visit:
"The Øresund ICT cluster has for quite some time now been a fairytale of prosperity throughout Europe. There is so much that we can learn from each other and perhaps in a number of years we will be able to produce similar results but our journey is only just about to begin", reflects Pedro Castro Henriques, Spokesman, Portic.
Specifically in what ways the more than 40 meetings held by the various parties will result in new collaborations and establishments is somewhat that we will monitor closely a likewise keep you posted on.
