Danish smart phone launched at the MWC

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week it was completely unexpected when something as rare as a new Danish mobile and smart phone manufacturer presented their brand new smart phones.

Nowadays consumers will be disappointed if they start searching for Danish designed and produced mobile phones. Because in between those rare but stylish and expensive Bang & Olufsen mobiles Denmark has yet to fill the gap after the Danish division of Bosch mobile phones closed down.

But perhaps the new Danish mobile phone manufacturer Lumigon is here to stay. The Copenhagen-based company, which has yet to market their first product, is definitely up for the challenge.

The first two phones to hit the market are equipped with HDMI so they will function as media players with superb quality, they can be used as universal remote controls for most electronic devices and they are equipped with Google's latest Android user interface supplying free navigation for the user. The two smart phones T1 and S1, reaching the market later this year, are a slide phone and a touch-phone, respectively.

Although both appearance and specifications can compete with the best products on the market and easily makes you want one the price will not skyrocket. Managing Director, Lars Gravesen, states that the company is not going for a specific market segment but aiming broadly as he says: "Anyone will be able to afford one". And since the price of the cheapest phone is starting at 3500 DKK without contractual commitments to a specific operator it does look like a very tempting alternative to the current market.

Even though both mobile phones possess a unique design, Lars Gravesen, is unwilling to reveal anything about a third phone underway, the E1, which as he says "is something quite special" and according to Lumigon's own press release the phone will be presented in a revolutionary form and with a unique navigational system.

Precisely what that means and how Danish Lumigon is going to make it in the mobile industry will be exiting to follow.
