Danish ICT industry back in rapid growth

Posted: November 19, 2010

New numbers from the Confederation of Danish Industry shows great prosperity in ICT again. The first eight months of 2010 result in a 9.2 % increase in this sector.

The ICT association of Confederation of Danish Industry, ITEK, are thrilled with the new numbers for the growth of the industry which proves an increasing growth rate in 2010 and points towards better times - again. In August the growth was 14.3 % for IT, electronics and telecommunications and digital content; a turnover of approx. DKK 20 billion (€ 2.7 billion) for this month alone. This number is almost as high as the monthly turnover for the Danish ICT industry before the financial crisis hit the market. In comparison the entire turnover for the same areas in 2009 was DKK 210 billion (€ 28.1 billion).

- The numbers definitely show we are approaching better times, CEO of ITEK Tom Togsverd says.
He emphasizes the importance of continuously supporting ongoing ICT projects because the market needs long term projects to ensure the digitalization. Danish public authorities in regions and municipalities do still invest heavily in ICT solutions despite current limitations set by the Ministry of Finance.

According to Tom Togsverd the lowering of tax plans for research is great for Denmark in order to make it easier to international ICT resources and competences to enter this market and ensure growth.
