4 Danish players with 4G

The auction of the 4 offered slots on the new high-speed 4G LTE network has been conducted and the new operators found. However, speed differences also meant huge differences on price-tags.
When the Danish National IT and Telekom Agency held the auction for the 4 slots on the new high-speed 4G LTE network the bidding companies ended up with very different bills.
TDC, Telia and Telenor have paid more than DKK 300 million each for 20 MHz individual bandwidth on the new network. These network slots allows the respectable companies to achieve speeds up to 172 Mbit/s. The maximum speed however, has been widely discussed as it strongly depends on software and hardware of mobile phones, network traffic and website speeds, which is why many only consider the peak theoretical.
The Danish network operator "3" bought the forth slot on the network but at a price of just DKK 7 million. What seems a bargain compared to the rivaling companies expenses in relation to the auction is a result of a much lower maximum speed on the bandwidth that 3 bought. The 2 x 10 MHz that 3 has bought is expected to peak at half of the speed than the other slots.
Considering the expected actual max speed versus the theoretical max speed however, the purchase that 3 has made to compliment its already fast and solid 3G network seems to be an interesting prioritization.
