The IT University produces more candidates than expected

The IT University in Denmark surpasses expectations by the number of graduating IT candidates from both undergrad and master's programs in 2009. New numbers show that students at the IT University are more diligent than previous years.

The students at the IT University in Copenhagen are keen on working hard to finish their education. New numbers from the university shows that the students do better than earlier in matters of time to graduate which has been an issue at Danish universities.

- It is very delightful to see that our students work faster and harder. That is something we have tried to encourage for years and now it is happening, says director of studies, Kasper Østerbye in a press release from the IT University.

In 2009 the number of students graduating from a bachelor program has been 2 percent higher than the previous year; it has been 3 percent higher for graduating master degree students; and 11 percent higher for external guest students. At the same time, 23 percent of students at the IT University now graduate with a master's degree within the expected time frame.

- We see that the students do not feel overloaded despite the high speed tempo and the increased requirements our educations set to their work effort. There is a high praise for students and personnel, because it is a team effort when you improve like we have done here, says Kasper Østerbye.

The numbers are from the official STÅ production - where one student full time equivalent equals one year's full time study of passed tests and exams. This number is used for the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation to pay out annual financial support to the university.
