ØSR generates 450 million sek

During the period 2002 - 2008 Øresund Science Region generated over 450 million sek to the 11 universities in the Øresund Region. This is by far one of the most succesfull stories in the region, even though it is not very well known.

Øresund Science Region and the Øresund University - the parent organizations of Øresund IT - is a unique collaboration between business, academia and public sector. Today the organization consists of the different clusterorganizations Øresund IT, Øresund Food Network, Øresund Logistics, Øresund Environment Academy and the associated member Medicon Valley Alliance. In addition to this we also run the very highly ranked Øresund Entrepreneurship Academy, the new thrilling project Nano Øresund.

Since the organization started, one of the objectives has been to find new funding possibilities within for instance the different programs run by the European Union. In total this has generated funding of over 450 million swedish crowns, which all have been allocated back to the different universities in the region. Only during autumn 2008 application of around 100 million swedish crowns got approved. Most of it have been related to different types of research, but there are also a lot of examples of projects that has generated new business opportunities and public good.

With this very strong track record, ØSR now strenghten its capabilities to help bussineses, academia and the public sector to find funding. During summer ØSR will create a new function for EU applications, with the base in all our collected knowledge. With this ØSR certainly will be able to be even better in attracting capital and research to the region.
