New Chairman position for Denmark
The CEO of National IT and Telecom Agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Jørgen Abild Andersen has been announced General Director for OECD's committee of Information, Computer and Communication Policy (ICCP). The committee works to develop and promote international ICT cooperation.
As of January 2010 Jørgen Abild Andersen will replace the current General Director, Richard Simpson from the Canadian Ministry of Industry.
ICCP develops politics to support the best exploitation of the information-technology society. The committee conducts analysis of the development in the ICT sector and analyzes the impact the development has on social and economic relations. The goal is to give the OECD member countries solid knowledge for developing regional ICT politicies.
Choosing a Dane for General Director is a great recognition of the work the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has been and are doing in the ICT area. The results of this work places Denmark in the top amongst the very best countries in the international bench-mark comparisons that OECD conduct.
- Innovation, growth and increased welfare is indeed dependent on the society's continuing digital development. This requires intelligent and increased use of ICT. Succeeding in this will have a determining impact on the economical and societal developement of all OECD countries. I am really looking forward to commencing this work, says Jørgen Abild Andersen.
The attention of the Danish work with ICT is a great confirmation of the work Øresund IT carries out by initiating the BrandIT project which is a branding strategy for the ICT cluster of the Øresund Region. Please read more about BrandIT here.
