Copenhagen as the center of IT and finance in Northern Europe
14 key organizations and knowledge institutions are today March 16th 2009 launching a very ambitious initiative - Copenhagen Finance IT Region (CFIR). The initiative kicks off with the participation of the Minister of Economics and Business Affairs Lene Espersen.
It is a unique initiative where the 14 partners and companies will work together focused on more innovation and growth in both the financial sector as the IT sector. The aim is that Copenhagen will be the center of finance and IT in Northern Europe.
- Those who manage to stick to innovation and development in times of crisis will come out stronger on the other hand, says the Finance Council’s Director, Jørgen A. Horwitz.
- Copenhagen Finance IT Region is to increase the interaction between different sectors and educational institutions. It will stimulate innovation and growth for the benefit of us all, says Jørgen A. Horwitz about the new initiative's potential.
The organizations are seeing large prospects in the initiative - not only for the financial sector and the IT sector in the area of Copenhagen, but also for the rest of Denmark and across the hole Øresund Region.
- The financial sector and the IT sector are today among the capital's strengths compared with other metropolises. The initiative will help to develop these strengths, says Jørgen A. Horwitz.
Denmark is very advanced when it comes to using IT and the Internet in the private and public sphere. Therefore we have a fantastic opportunity to develop new and exciting technologies and services. At the same time there is a number of challenges in relation to education, retaining and attracting workers etc., which innovation can help to solve. These are all themes that we have to work with.
