Centre for Scandinavian Studies
Centre for Scandinavian Studies Copenhagen – Lund (CSS) is an initiative between two major universities in the Øresund region with cutting edge profiles within the field of Scandinavian Studies. The Centre aims to establish a permanent cooperation between the Department of Scandinavian Studies and Linguistics, University of Copenhagen, and the Department of Comparative Literature at the Centre for Languages and Literature, Lund University.
The long term ambition is to make CSS a leading institution worldwide for research and education in Scandinavian Studies, encompassing the fields of language, literature, film, media and culture. In order to attract Scandinavian as well as non-Scandinavian students and researchers, the centre will cooperate with researchers and departments both regionally and globally. The liaisons will have effects at all levels of education and research, including the construction of a webpage and an e-published acta series of Scandinavian Studies. CSS will also engage in activities to further promote cooperation between the participating universities, including experiments with new courses and seminars at BA and MA levels, the development of a common degree in Scandinavian Studies at MA level, as well as common seminars and courses for Ph.D. students. Every year, a conference on a specific topic in the field of Scandinavian Studies will be held in either Copenhagen or Lund, and the proceedings are to be published in the acta series of CSS.
