Module on SCM: Exercise session

This set of exercises will bridge the gap between reading about Software Configuration Management theory and applying it in practice. The exercises are designed to give you the opportunity to actively work with what you have learned from the lecture note. Some exercises test your ability to remember certain concepts and principles, other exercises deepen your understanding of important concepts and principles, and some exercises challenge you to apply core concepts and principles to solve real-world scenarios. In all cases, actively working with the exercises will strengthen your comprehension and retention of the material.

Software Configuration Management concepts and principles are quite generic at an abstract level. However, implementing them will often have to be done in very different ways, depending on the trade-offs of the specific context. Consequently, there are rarely one-size-fits-all solutions to SCM challenges. To explore the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches, we strongly recommend working through and discussing these exercises in small groups of 3–5 people.
