Lars Bendix:
CM for the WWW - new challenges or old solutions?,
at CM Expo 2000, Manchester, England, February 17, 2000.
Abstract:
In this presentation, we address the growing problem of handling changes
on the World Wide Web. We start by identifying some of the ways these
problems surface. We then review some of the most important principles
and concepts guiding change management solutions in traditional software
development. Some of these can be used for Web development too, whereas
others are specifically tied to the development of software.
Web development has some characteristics that pose new challenges to change management and require special treatment. We present a few examples of these new challenges and also hint at some possible solutions to them. Finally, we identify areas where old solutions from traditional software development can be used to manage changes also in Web development.
