Abstract: The aim of this study is to create a model that can
clarify the costs and the benefits of SCM. This work is primarily
addressed to the management of a software company, who take the
decisions for introducing SCM in the production of software.

In our model we divide both cost and benefit parameters into
three categories according to the difficulty and individuality
of estimating the parameter's value. In addition to the model,
we have also created a method to help guiding the user through
the estimation of parameters and calculation of the ROI.

Compared to the very little previous work that exist, our model
is more complete both with respect to cost and benefit parameters.
