Abstract:
Most embedded systems manufactured today will involve a microprocessor with some associated computer programknown as its firmware. To this date, most firmwares have been deployed using custom protocols. This thesis seeks tol investigate a number of de facto and de jure standard protocols that can be used for firmware loading across the Unified Serial Bus (USB). It is found through prototyping that a small, embedded network is a viable and scaleable for loading firmware files into embedded systems.
