Project Mission - AquaMonitor
Background
Companies wishing to enhance their working environment often find that an aquarium is the perfect choice. Our business is to provide a service for such companies to allow them this luxury without the hassle of maintenance. The company hires an equipped aquarium and our servicemen make regular visits to ensure that the setup is constantly in perfect shape. Unfortunately we find that these servicemen make unnecessary visits and this raises our costs. Therefore we would like to equip every aquarium with a device which will monitor vital statistics and report these to a central server, placed at our service office. Through this the servicemen can determine when to visit each aquarium setup.
Expectations
The overall business goal is to reduce the number of service visits by 50%
The device must run completely transparent to our customer.
The device must monitor water quality, levels in the automatic dispensers (such as food) and other vital data.
The device must be able to transmit these data to a central unit periodically.
The system must be able to create optimal itineraries for the servicemen.
The system must save historical data and provide functions for statistical analysis.
Roles
As we do not feel proficient in the area of systems development, we have decided to commission a consultant to create requirement specifications for a system to meet our expectations. This is your role.
