We have a "free rider" in our group - how do we handle that?

If a person decides to not show up at lectures, seminars or exercises it is basically his own problem and not a problem for the group. If there are too many missing in a group at an exercise session, I will temporarily merge it with another group to get good discussions.

If a person does not contribute to a group delivery, then it is a group problem. You should try to addres the problem in two steps:

It is up to the group to decide how much or little effort they want to put into the first step. When I take over the end result might be that I create a new one-person group that has to produce its own deliveries alone!
