Abstract for the AI seminar, 9th October Maozu Guo, Harbin Institute of Technology Extension Matrix and Its Algorithms As we know, inductive learning, or learning from examples, has been one of the main methods in machine learning. There are mainly two groups of algorithms about inductive learning. One groups is covering algorithms such as AQ15 with the learning results in rules; another is divide-and-conquer algorithms such as ID3 with the learning results in decision tree. In this seminar, I would like to discuss the third group of algorithms, which are based on extension matrix. First, the concept of extension matrix (EM) is given with an illustrating example. Then, the algorithms based on EM are discussed including AE1, AE9 and so on. Finally, we can propose some applications of EM.
